Eric Cantona Set To Play Villain?

After Matt Smith made a passing comment about how he would like to see ex footballer turned actor Eric Cantona take a role in Doctor Who, the media has gone crazy reporting that Cantona has already been cast as a new French alien villain to be faced by the Doctor in series 6.

All of this has of course been borne out of a jokey comment made by Matt Smith, who said: “I’d like Eric to do one and I’ve mentioned it to Steven Moffat. Eric’s got to be bad.”



Since the newspapers picked up the story, a false quote from the BBC has been doing the rounds saying they are persuing Cantona because they respect Matt's input, but we can safely say that for the time being these rumours are false.
