Series 7 Filming Updates, Rumours and Speculation

According to Matt Smith, filming for him on Series 7 is due to begin on Monday February 20th, with reheasals due to begin a week earlier on Monday February 13th. It has previously been rumoured that Alex Kingston would return to filming as River Song sometime around the 8th or 9th of February, though these dates are unconfirmed.

There is also some potential overseas filming to take place if the following is to be believed. One of our forum members, Oh-Wise-One, has posted this on the forum:
Feel free to shoot this down but a friend of mine who is a bit of an up and coming actor posted on Facebook this week that he had gotten a small role on the show and will be going to Spain to shoot. He takes it all very seriously so I can't imagine why he would lie about it, and he isn't a fanboy so I don't think it is something he would say to get people worked up. A couple of us pressed for more information but he wouldn't budge and then the following morning he deleted the comment. I'd say take it with a pinch of salt, but I have no reason to think he would lie about it either.
As the poster says, this is unconfirmed and should be taken with a huge pinch of salt, but it does open up the possibility that we may have some new information about overseas filming for this year. Australia is another country that had been previously rumoured as a potential location for series 7. With filming due to begin over the next few weeks, remember to keep checking back for all the latest updates, or for more in depth discussion of filming, spoilers and set information, check out our forum, The Doctor In The TARDIS Forum

Episode 10 title revealed

The BBC seem to be spoiling Doctor Who fans at the moment. Yesterday it was not one, but two trailers, & today they are giving us a previously unknown episode title.

They have put together a guide to the rest of Series 6 & in it they have revealed that the title of episode 10 will be ...

The Girl Who Waited

In the past Amy 'Amelia' Pond has been called 'the girl who waited' by the Doctor, so does this mean that episode 10 will be Amy centric? Or, will we possibly see a return of young Amelia? (I do vaguely remember a rumour floating around about that at some point!) Or, is it just a red herring & this particular 'girl who waited' will be someone completely different. Only time will tell!

Most of the rest of the info in the article concerns writers & directors, plus some guest stars, although no-one we didn't already know about. It also includes the synopsis of 'Let's Kill Hitler' that we posted previously HERE

If you want to read the rest of the BBC's Guide to the Rest of the Series visit the official site

So ... what are your thoughts on this new title?

More Evidence To Suggest The Companions Are On The Way Out

In an interview this week with Whats On TV, Karen Gillan has added more fuel to the fire of speculation that she and Arthur Darvill will be heading out of the TARDIS once Series 6 comes to an end.

When asked what she has planned for the future, Karen replied:
"I am playing Jean Shrimpton in a BBC4 drama We’ll Take Manhattan but I have just literally gone from Doctor Who to that so I haven’t had a chance to sit and have a think. I actually would really like to go home to Scotland for a little while and reflect on what has happened and then decide what my next move is, but I don’t know what that is yet.
This follows a comment made by Arthur in an interview with the London Evening Standard last week where he commented:
"Getting a part like Rory was great, but now, coming out of it, I need to go and do something completely different."
Of course this is all heavy speculation and nothing is confirmed yet, but it is certainly seeming as though we will be getting some new TARDIS inhabitants soon.

Series 7 Writer Confirmed?

John Fay, who famously killed off Ianto in episode 4 of Torchwood: Children Of Earth, and who is also part of the writing staff for Torchwood: Miracle Day, has updated his CV to say that he will be contributing a script to what is assumed to be Series 7 of Doctor Who.

Whether his script is selected to be made into an episode is something we will find out at a later date, but it certainly a good sign to have someone of his calibre involved already.

Is It The End For Arthur?

In an interview today with The London Evening Standard, it would seem that Arthur Darvil has accidently let slip that he is to bow out of the show at the end of the current series.

Whilst discussing his upcoming role Doctor Faustus at The Globe, Arthur commented:
"Getting a part like Rory was great, but now, coming out of it, I need to go and do something completely different."
After which, the interviewer noted that Darvill suddenly 'looked cornered, and clams up'.

This obviously isn't confirmation but it does certainly seem that Arthur let something slip that perhaps he shouldnt have, but then the exits of both himself and Karen Gillen have been widely speculated of late amongst fandom anyway, so might not come as much of a surprise to many.

What do you think? Is it time to wave goodbye or would you like to see more of the current companions?

Is It The End For Amy & Rory?

Todays announcement that Arthur Darvil will be starring in Doctor Faustus at The Globe from June through October of this year has got people wondering about the future of the current companions on the show.

As well as Arthurs turn on the boards, Karen Gillan is also signed to star in a movie with Robert Sheehan as well as film a drama special for BBC4, further filling their respective schedules. But where does this leave Rory and Amy in terms of travelling with the Doctor? Over on the forum, Oh-Wise-One had this to say about the possible departure of Arthur:
According to the press release he will be in the stage show from 18th June through to 2nd October. There are a few things that would indicate why this might mean the end for Rory.
a) The Christmas Special is rumoured to start filming at the beginning of June, so he wouldnt be available because of rehearsals for the play.
b) If he is doing six plays a week until October, that would mean his continuing full time on Doctor who would push filming back for series 7 until October. It usually starts in July/August

But we could look at it another way

c) Series 7 could be cut down to fewer episodes, allowing for a later filming start including Arthur
d) Series 7 moves to the Autumn, again allowing for a later start to filming and the inclusion of Arthur

Either way though I would say that he won't be in the Christmas episode because that will definately be filmed before October when his play ends. I'd also wager that even if the launch of the series is pushed back to Autumn next year, the filming block will probably remain the same due to Moffs commitments to Sherlock, which will be on a strict schedule due to Martin Freemans commitment to The Hobbit.
Just to reitterate, this is all speculative at the moment, but with Karens schedule looking just as hectic over the coming months it would seem that the chances of either of them returning full time is starting to look slim. As stated above, there are ways and means around this, but it would seem far more likely that we will soon be due new companions.

Keeping Tally

As many people obseved during the filming of the opening two parter in Utah, Amy, River and Rory were all seen covered in tally markings, and the latest DWM cover featuring the Doctor shows him with them too.

Many fans have been speculating about what they might signify or how they appeared there, but a section in The Metro today reveals something new. This is what they said:
They put the marks there themselves. And they reason they did it is really unsettling.

Not a lot to go on, but it does open up a whole load more questions and will make finding out even more interesting. What do you think the markings mean?

Doctor Who Magazine #433 4 x Cover Art

This month, DWM comes with 4 brilliant collectable covers and some very interesting bits of spoilery info. So first off, here are the covers:

How awesome do they look?

Steven Moffat has already been quoted from the magazine as saying:
Doctor Who Magazine - We're not lying, we're not cheating, one of those four people is going to die! When I came up with this heart-wrenching twist, I thought "We'll kill off one of the leads in the season opener." It lures you in.

Speculation is already rife as to who it might be (I feel a poll coming on) though we do know that whoever it is seems to suffer no lasting effects as all of them appear in later episodes. Clones maybe? We will have to wait and see.

As well as that, this issue has FINALLY confirmed the date we all knew as Saturday 23rd April for the launch. It also has episodes titles and synopses, so it is definately worth checking out. And for those of you who can't get a copy, the best bits will be posted here as always.

Are The Time Lords Returning?

The very lucky guys over at io9 have managed to see themselves two clips from the upcoming series of Doctor Who and from the sound of it, they were both brilliant. From episode 1 they have revealed this:
Mark Sheppard's character, Delaware, is drinking in a bar when he gets recruited for a government mission. Delaware has left the FBI but President Nixon wants him for a secret mission. "You were my second choice for this mission," Nixon tells Delaware. "That's all right," Delaware replies. "You were my second choice for president."
And more intriguingly is this little snippet from episode 4:
The Doctor, Amy and Rory are on the spaceship graveyard planet, meeting a group of four or five people — including an Ood. Amy is alarmed by the Ood, but the Doctor tells her not to be scared. The Ood has a broken speech globe, but the Doctor repairs it — at which point, a babble of weird voices comes out until it shuts off. The Doctor is incredibly freaked out, and starts asking who else is there. Just The Room, explains the older woman in the group of natives. They're inside the Room and standing on it — the whole planet is The Room. The Doctor can meet The Room if he likes. The Doctor is very eager to do so — and Amy asks what those voices were. "Time Lords," the Doctor explains. Near here someplace, there are "lots and lots of Time Lords."
So does that mean the Time Lords are on the way back? What do you think?

Double Who?

It has been speculated upon for weeks now that we might be seeing the first two episodes of the new series airing over the course of a single weekend, and now it seems that there might be some further evidence to back that up.

Over on the forum, Peri-Peri has posted a link to the CV of Jeff Mash who is starring in Day Of The Moon, the second episode in the run. According to his CV, which you can see HERE, the episode will be airing on Sunday April 24th, just one day after the opener.

Times and dates are always subject to change, so nothing is concrete until we hear it from the BBC itself, but for now it seems that a weekend of new Doctor Who is likely.

Is Jenny Returning?

Various sources around the web are reporting that Episode 7 of series 6 will see the return of Jenny, the Doctor's daughter. If the rumours are correct though, we will be seeing her in her second incarnation.

As far as I am aware the main source for the rumour stems from IMDB, which is probably one of the most unreliable on the web, but the actress in question, Catrin Stewart, is listed there as a character called 'Jenny' and now rumours are rife that it will be the same character originated by Georgia Moffat.

The other explanation of course is that she will be starring and will be playing a character called Jenny, but one that is totally different.

Huge handfuls of salt are needed with this one, but just in case....

Sophie Returns

With the announcement that James Corden would reprise is role in Doctor Who during series 6, and multiple set reports and pictures showing him on set, many fans were left wondering whether we would also see the return of Daisy Haggard as his girlfriend Sophie too.

In a piece of script that was revealed last week, it seemed that Sophie had left Craig, and with no word on casting, and no sight of her on set it was looking as though we wouldn't be seeing another appearance, but over the forum, MandyDuchovney has just posted a great picture showing the pair back together and filming on set, putting speculation finally to rest on whether she would return.

"The Geography Keeps Changing"

This months DWM features a whole interview with Toby Whitehouse, writer of episode 11 of series six, 'The God Complex', and as a little teaser to all the fans, their facebook page has been updated to include a brief snippet from the interview which gives a little teaser to the plot....
"Steven Moffat said 'The Doctor and Amy are trapped in a hotel and the geography keeps shifting.' I said, 'Oh yeah?' He said, 'No, that’s literally as far as we've got.'" Toby explains. "So that was the starting point. That one line. A lot of the ideas just fell into place..."
Not a lot to give away, but just enough to get minds racing and the speculators speculating.

As far as themes go, Series 6 seems to have a lot of characters getting lost, trapped or seperated in several episodes, with rumours of Amy and Rory being lost in the halls of the TARDIS, Amy being lost at an orphanage, the whole team being trapped in a giant dollhouse and River and Rory having to find their way around the mysterious 'Logder' TARDIS. What could it all mean?

Talk Of Air Dates

Series 6 of Doctor Who is just around the corner, but as of yet we have had no official anouncement about air dates. Speculation is rife amongst fandom and we know from an article in Doctor Who Magazine that we can expect the launch to be sometime in April, but with the powers of deduction we may have it narrowed down.

Last week DWM tweeted that there is a seven week wait until the new series airs. When added up, this would give a launch date of April 23rd. It could be a red herring to throw us off, but it is more likely that DWM were giving us a little clue about when to expect the new series.

It does seem a long way off at the moment, and of course this is speculation rather than solid statement, but with two special segments scheduled for Comic Relief on March 18th, and rumours of a new trailer to follow on the 19th, we will at least be getting some of our Who fix in the meantime.

Who's The BabyDaddy?

UnrealityShout is reporting that the mid series cliffhanger of series 6 will see Amy fall pregnant, causing a babydaddy drama in the TARDIS.

According to the site, when Amy excitedly tells Rory that she is pregnant he will accuse her of an affair with the Doctor and even Vincent Van Goch.

While this sounds a bit crazy, especially given that after the story sounds very tacky and that after the Big Bang Amy was technically reborn and so couldn't be pregnant by Vincent, the have been rumours of a pregnancy flying around for a while, as well as the email we recieved at 'TARDIS Spoilers' a few months back from a girl saying that her baby twin brothers had been seen for the part of a baby on the show.

For now, I would say that the majority, if not all of this story is made up, but we thought it should be shared nonetheless.

Please Hold For The Time Lords

It was months ago now that Neil Gaiman first said that we should expect to see 'something or someone not seen since The War Games' within his episode and it has left fans guessing who or what it could be. A few days ago over on the forum, Exterminate posted what has turned out to be a very interesting theory:

Neil Gaiman said that his episode (ep4) will contain something or someone not seen since the War Games. How about if it was the Time Lords Communication Box? Here it is in The War Games

And here is something from the trailer which could be the same thing....?

Could it be that somehow the Doctor recieves a message from the Time Lords? Maybe it is one sent before they are wiped out, or it could be from Idris (Suranne Jones) the 'old aquaintence with a new face' or maybe even some Time Lords in hiding? Or maybe it is a trap and someone other than a Time Lord uses it to comminicate with the Doctor. Also, if you look at Amy and Rory in the background, they are wearing the clothes from the filming of Gaimans episode, so it is safe to say that the glowy box belongs in that story, even if it isnt the communicator device.

So that is what Exterminate thinks, but what about you lot? Let us know below

Return Of The Sontarans?

A photo from last weeks shoot of episode 7 at LaFarge Cement, orginally from Gallifrey Base, then posted onto our forum by Sandiwich11 at first glance shows nothing of particular interest other than the TARDIS, but on closer inspection it would seem that slap bang in the middle of the photo is a Sontaran.

Unless being filmed as some sort of flashback/scene insert, it would seem that the cliffhanger episode of series six will see The Doctor once again facing off against the famous Sontar clones.

Is The Doctor Held Captive In Area 51?

Over on the forum, Exterminate, who is one of our members, has pointed out something interesting he spotted in the background of a photograph which may indicate that the Doctor is indeed being held inside Area 51 at some point during the opening two parter.

Click for larger image!
The MIB to the left of the picture means we can definately link this photo to the opening two part story that was filmed in the US. In the middle, albeit faintly, we can see a chained up bearded Doctor and then on the back wall we can see 'A51' written quite boldly. It doesnt take an enormous leap of logic to assume that the Doctor is being held inside the famous containment unit, but as Exterminate speculated on the forum, could this also have something to do with the 'little green man' in a suit that we see at the end of the Series 6 trailer?

What do you think?

And Now For Some Exciting Speculation...

Ok, so the last article brought to you all the latest news from the Whoniverse that has so far been confirmed, but there is a whole lot more that is so far just speculation, so with that in mind this is what we know. Kinda.

DOCTOR WHO
  • Amy becomes pregnant, leading her and Rory to leave the show. This could be potentially backed up by an email I recieved about 2 months ago from a girl claiming her baby twin brothers had been seen for the part of a baby. Perhaps the Doctor pays them one last visit after its born?
  • River will die in series 6 in an alternate timeline (and so ignoring the events of Silence In The Library)
  • The Cavaliers and Nazi's seen in the trailer are the passengers of a SIDRAT, last seen in the second Doctor story The War Games. If true, this could be what Gaiman was alluding to when he said we would see something in his script not seen since the above story.
  • There will be a lady wearing an eyepatch in the opening story. Some have speculated this may actually be Amy
  • CNN report that Series 6 will be aired simultaneously in the UK and USA
  • River Song's name is actually fake and her real name will be revealed in series 6
  • The Doctor will be cloned in the opening story
  • Amy Joins the MIB
  • DoctorWhoSpoilers, via Digital Spy, have hinted that Edgar Wright may direct for series 6
  • One of the episodes may have a medieval setting (probably speculated because of the castle filming)
  • Mondas Cybermen will make a return in an Egyption set episode
  • The TARDIS library and swimming pool will make a brief appearance before the Doctor jettisons them off into space in order to gain power for the TARDIS
  • The astronaut seen in the trailer for series 6 is part of the crew of Apollo 10.5
  • Finally, you can't have a serious article about speculation unless you include the following. River is:
    • The Rani
    • Donna
    • Amy
    • Romana 1
    • Romana 2
    • The Master
    • Anyone else who has ever appeared in the show

TORCHWOOD
  • Mekhi Phifer has been cast as Rex Matheson (At the moment unconfirmed)
  • Den Of Geek state that Bill Pullman has been cast as Oswald Jones (At the moment unconfirmed)
  • Tom Price has hinted that he will return as PC Andy in some American filmed scenes
  • Ausiello report that Jack will have a one night stand with a 20something guy called Brad
  • Episodes will air in the UK from the second week of July
  • Jack will get a new costume
THE SARAH JANE ADVENTURES
  • There will be a 'companion of the week' throughout series 5 (though this was also said of series 4 and so might be rubbish)
All of the above speculation, unless stated in the individual bullet points comes from members of the forum or messages sent to me via the news page. As always with speculation I advise you to take it all with a pinch of salt until confirmed or proven untrue.

Easter Special For 2011?

Peter Hoar has been announced as a director of Doctor Who Series 6 according to his online CV, but before some swift updates yesterday to hide some potential spoilers it revealed that he was to be taking the helm of a 60 minute Easter Special. Luckily, over on the forum one of our members managed to get a screen grab before it was changed.

Now, we know who is directing the first 4 episodes which would take us way beyond Easter, so do you think there has been a mix up on the CV or could there be a special episode being planned? I will let you speculate amongst yourselves.
