Doctor Who Hits The Music Charts
Music written by Murray Gold from the soundtrack to Series 5 of Doctor Who has charted in the UK Indie Singles Charts, with two entries in the top 40
At the time of the last official chart update, the soundtrack had been released for just 6 days and the two tracks, which weren't officially released as singles, charted on the strength of downloads alone.
'Doctor Who XI', which is track number 1 on the Series 5 soundtrack went straight in at the Number 30 position, while 'I Am The Doctor', which is track number 9 on the soundtrack managed to go even better and so far peak at Number 16.
More entries are expected later today when the official charts are updated.

Series 5 Outtakes
There are lots of versions of this video doing the rounds, and the BBC are following them and removing them, so watch this one quickly while it still works. It has the cast of series 5 messing around, having fun and no doubt causing headaches for the crew as they fluff their lines and mess up scenes. Enjoy

Watch The Series 5 DVD Bonus Scenes Here
As many of you will know, the series 5 DVD release comes with two specially filmed sequences available only on the DVD, called Inside The TARDIS. The first is set between the events of Flesh and Stone and Vampires Of Venice and has the Doctor explaining to Amy about all his previous companions. You even get to see some really cool pictures.
The second is set at the end of The Eleventh Hour and has Amy questioning the Doctor about his look and the Doctor explaining about the TARDIS. Its actually really funny in parts.

Series 5 Bonus Features Revealed
The DVD set of Series 5 of Doctor Who is due for release in a few weeks time, and we finally have word about the extras we can expect from the release.
As we reported a few months ago, the set will include two specially filmed mini episodes, each around 3-4 minutes long and featuring the Doctor and Amy. One takes place between episodes 1 and 2, the other directly after Amy plants a wet one on the Doctor. But that isnt all. Oh no.
Four episodes of The Monster Files are also included, giving fans info and facts on some of the mosters that the Doctor faced throughout the series. As well as that there are nearly 8 minutes of bloopers and outtakes from behind the scenes filming are also included on a featurette, as well as 30 minutes of video diaries from Matt, Karen and Arthur.
As always, the individual episode commentaries are included, and this year there is quite a line up. The people talking us through the episodes include:
Steven Moffat,
Piers Wenger,
Beth Willis,
Mark Gatiss,
Barnaby Edwards,
Nicholas Briggs,
Karen Gillan,
Johnny Campbell,
Toby Whithouse,
Alex Price,
Ashley Way,
Alun Raglan,
James Dehaviland,
Toby Haynes,
and Arthur Darvill
Is that enough for you all?

Your Series 5 Ratings
It's been two months since the end of Series 5. Its gone so fast. But after all that time for viewing after viewing after viewing, in the latest poll we wanted to know how the series was holding up and how you rate it, so here are the results.
1/5 Such a massive dissapointment - 2% of the people who voted went with this option and feel that series 5 didnt live up to the hype surrounding it.
2/5 A few good bits, but mainly dissapointing - 11% of the people who voted went for this option. Main highlights from some tweeters included Vincent and the Doctor
3/5 Not bad, not great - 9% of the voters chose this option, feeling that there was little consistency within the series.
4/5 Very near to perfection - 50% of all voters felt that this series was very near perfection. The Daleks and River Song seemed to be the downpoints for many viewers.
5/5 Best new series so far - 28% of voters gave series five full marks and said that it was the best series since the show was revived in 2005/

So it seems that the majority of people were really happy with series 5, despite press reports which would have you believe that the fans hated it and were switching off in their millions. Thank goodness we held this poll to put things straight.
Do you agree with the results? Let us know

Meanwhile In The TARDIS...
You may remember that last week we told you that the Series 5 box set will include two specially filmed scenes as extras, titled Meanwhile In The TARDIS..., and we can now reveal what the scenes will be about.

The two inserts, written by Steven Moffat will star Matt Smith & Karen Gillan as the Doctor and Amy. The first will slot neatly between The Eleventh Hour and The Beast Below and will explain why Amy was floating in Space above the Starship UK at the beginning of the episode.
The second scene will fit in after Flesh and Stone and before The Vampires Of Venice and will explain what happened in the TARDIS after Amy throws herself at the Doctor and tries to kiss him.
The Boxset will be available on November 8th in the UK and 9th in the US.

You've seen more than you think!
The newest edition of Doctor Who Magazine hits the shelves tomorrow, but us lucky subscribers often get it a day early (Last month it turned up 3 days late and I nearly cried), and Moffat has once again been up to his teasing antics.
In the latest issue, he says in regards to series 6:
Also, putting rest to all the series 1/Fnarg/31/5 debates, he claims he has only ever seen the last series as series 5, and never anything else. And to think I was just warming to the idea of Fnarg. Some serious backtracking on his part considering he started the whole bloody debate in the first place. Cheeky so and so!

"You've seen more than you think. the Doctor has noticed what you have not. And when the biggest jaw-dropping twist finally comes - well, the second one - you'll realise you've known about it from the very beginning..."

More Series 5 Boxset Information
According to 2Entertain, Doctor Who: The Complete Fifth Series, will be available in two editions this year. The standard boxset that we are used to, as well as a numbered limited edition Box-set.
As we told you recently, this years series will also feature two specially filmed mini episodes and we can reveal that the box set will also feature a Matt Smith video diary, and Doctor Who Confidentials for each episode and the Monster Diaries from each volume, plus more stuff yet to be announced. It seems they are going all out this year.

The downside to all of this though is that the boxsets, due for release in November, are being provisionally priced at £79.99 in some places and £69.99 in other places, with the special addition sets looking like they will cost even more. I would advise having a good look around as many retailers, if past years are anything to go by, will be selling them from around £49.99 which I would say is a more standard price to be paying.

The Series 5 Top Ten Best Bits
Series 5 of Doctor who came under fire from some for various reasons. Bad stories, dislike of the Doctor and/or companion, cheaply made episodes, bad scripts and confusing plots are all some of the things suggested to us by our Twitter followers as to what they disliked about the series.
At The Doctor In The TARDIS though, we like to see the good in everything, and despite a few stumbles we thought series 5 was pretty flippin' epic. Because of that (and because it's a slow spoiler day, obviously) we are bringing you the brilliantly named 'The Series 5 Top Ten Best Bits' to look over. So without any further ado...
TEN - FISH CUSTARD, BOW TIES AND THE NOW FAMOUS FEZ
Whether he knew it or not, Steven Moffat's little minor plot details became fan craze's all over the place. We pretended not to notice the strange looks we got in posh restaraunts as we sat eating our fish custard while wearing a bow tie and a fez, but believe it or not, sales of the fashion items have gone through the roof and even made the newspapers, while a wave of parents have been forced to give in to the demands of children who want fish custard for their dinner. Fish custard, bow ties and fez's are most deffinately 'cool'.

NINE - THE AWAKENING OF THE SILURIANS
Last seen in 1984's Warriors Of The Deep, the announcement that the Silurians were making a return was met with excitement from nearly all the fans. That is, until they saw the redesign and watched the episodes. Many people slated the story and hated the new look reptilians, but we loved both them and the story. The classic monster, not seen for 26 years came back, and that is what really matters. And boy were they on form. The production team brought them well and truly into the 21st century and once again made them a race not to be messed with, but this time we got a deeper look into their motives and actions. They are now slated for an appearance in S5 of SJA.
EIGHT - THE LONE CENTURIAN
The love that spanned two millennia was the perfect touch to the Amy/Rory romance. It seemed for a while that the seriousness of their relationship depended heavily on who was writing each particular episode, with many fans criticising Amy's treatment of loveable but dim Rory. As so often is the case, it wasnt until she lost him, forgot him, remembered him, then was killed by him that Amy realised how much she loved him. Auton Rory's humanity, love and dedication to her plight, protecting her in the Pandorica for nearly 2000 years was a gorgeous addition to their love story, while Amy's teary reaction to witnessing the video of The Lone Centurian, and realising her love for him melted even the hardest of hearts and as is so rarely seen in Doctor Who, they both got their happy ending. Awwww.
SEVEN - AMELIA POND
Little Amelia Pond. Oh how fabulous was she? Played by first time actress Caitlin Blackwood, cousin to Karen Gillan, she lit up every scene she was in and was a very welcome addition to the show. She opened series 5 to rave reviews with fans hoping she would make a return, and she did just that in The Big Bang. With brilliant comic timing and a flair for acting, she showed us even as a child, the cheekiness and feistiness that Amy would later have in spades as an adult. Many are hoping we get to see her again sometime soon, and you know what? So do we. Lets hope Moffat makes it happen.
SIX - THE BRAND NEW TARDIS INTERIOR
Well, well, well! The coral has gone and in it's place a sleek, orange hued junkyard of wonder. And that is by no means a criticism. After 5 years of a basic, practically empy space, the new TARDIS is both hi tech and retro and has never seemed more alive. With more knobs and levers than you could shake a sonic screwdriver at, the new TARDIS interior looks fantastic, is set on many floors and even has a mustard and ketchup dispensor on the main console. What more could you ask for? We will also be getting to see more rooms and corridors next series if rumours and set design drawings are to be believed.

FIVE - THE DREAM LORD
Ok, we will hold our hands up. We totally didnt see that conclusion coming!! A character that seemed to go down a storm with fans, Toby Jones played the Dream Lord with buckets of menace and playfulness and had just the right amount of each to make the fans uneasy, but intrigued. Playing on the characters weaknesses, and flipping between alternate dream realities, the Dream Lord, and the episode as a whole, was quite a departure from the type of stories we have grown used to, and both fans and critics lapped it up. Bringing out the worst parts of the Doctor is no easy task, but they pulled it off with ease and the conclusion left the possibilty of the Dream Lord's return. Something we know most fans would be happy to see.
FOUR - RIVERS RETURN
Now we know this one has split fans the world over, but we have to agree with the majority that the return of River song added a great depth to the arc of series 5 and she brought with her an even bigger air of mystery and intrigue. for every layer of her character we peeled away, we found more layers, and whether you liked her or not, you cant deny that the mystery surrounding her and the questions about who or what she is were major talking points from this series. Played wonderfully again by Alex Kingston, River is slated for a return in S6 (Yippee), and a rumoured full time gig in S7.
THREE - THE WEEPING ANGELS
Like many of you, we didnt think the brilliance of Blink could be topped, but Moffat proved us wrong with this years Angels two parter. Changing the rules and making the stakes even higher paid off and fans were left wondering if maybe this would be the time the Doctor met his match. This time, making the victims believe they were turning to stone, and breaking necks instead of zapping back in time, this group of Angels was eventually sucked into the Void, but we all know there is more out there and this wont be the last time we see their evil stone faces. At least, we hope not.
TWO - THAT CYBER HEAD
That moving, tentacle swaying, skull throwing, dart spitting Cyber head scene is probably one of the most terrifying scenes ever seen in Doctor Who. Brilliantly shot and acted, that scene sent people everywhere flocking to the forums to say that their children had been left petrified, and we are not to manly to admit that so were we. Adding spades full of fright to an episode that had so far been suspensful but not particularly scary not only made the viewer sit up and take notice, but also added a new scarier dimension to the Cybermen, who had been shall we say, a little bit rubbish since their return in Series 2. Quite possibly THE scariest scene we have ever seen in Doctor Who.
ONE - THE PANDORICA OPENS CLIFFHANGER
Now when it comes to cliffhangers in TV shows, we don't think there has been a better one EVER. The lack of trailer, and the peril that the characters were left in meant that people everywhere were tearing at their hair for seven days waiting to find out what was going to happen to our favourite Time Lord and his trusty companions. Now, we have had cliff hangers in the show before, and we always know the Doctor will live on to tell the tale. Mainly because these cliff hangers happen mid season and we know we have a good few episodes of fun left to be had, but this one was different and had many people speculating if this was really it. With The Doctor locked in the Pandorica unable to escape, River trapped in an exploding TARDIS, Rory turned into an Auton, and Amy killed by said Auton, there didnt seem to be a way to get out of it. Several newspapers even speculated that Steven Moffat was secretly ending the show with episode 12, and that that would be the end of the Doctor. That in itself would have been a fantastic way for the series to end, but we were oh so glad it wasnt. As far as cliffhangers go, this is at the top of the pile, and manicurists the world over have seen a boost in custom tending to the people who bit their nails down to the nub in anticipation of The Big Bang. Moffat, we loved it, but dont EVER do that to us again.

The Big Bang Official Ratings
*EDIT* The official figures have finally come in. The Big Bang got 6.7million viewers. A great success for Matts first series.
For the second week running, Barb has made erros with their production of veiwer ratings for the BBC. Last week for The Pandorica Opens they released only the HD figure, and we had to wait a further four days for the rest.
This week however, they have released all the consolidated figures EXCEPT for the hd figure.
So onto the ratings so far. Without HD included, The Big Bang so far has an official rating of 6.58 million. Thats an increase of 1.48 million on overnights, though we need to emphasise that this figure will be even bigger as soon as the HD figures come through.
Are you happy with these figures?

The Dalek Debate
Well well, who could have imagined the massive divide that the new look Daleks have caused this year. From their first outing in Victory of the Daleks, to their return in The Pandorica Opens, opinion has taken on a somewhat Marmite effect. People are either loving them or hating them, but it's been a long time since we remember something splitting fandom so mercilessly down the middle.
The new look models, with their bulkier mid section and their bright 'all the colours of the skittle rainbow' colour schemes have been mocked, ridiculed, loved and loathed in equal measures, but it seems the majority of fandom are now calling for the Daleks to be put to rest.

The new design, seen by many as a ploy to sell more action figures, hasnt gone down to well, but with no sign of them reverting to their older, more original look, it seems people would now prefer that they didnt show up at all. They have, after all, appeared in around 8 stories since the show returned in 2005, more than any other villain, and they are seen by many to have outstayed their welcome. Add to that their new comparison to overweight Power Rangers, and it seems that their appearances in future episodes just simply isnt welcome.
It is well known that the BBC made demands for the return of the Daleks, seeing them as the driving force of popularity behind the show, but with rumours of the BBC also insisting that they appear every single year, it seems that despite quality falling, we will be graced with their presence for as long as the show airs.
And so to the debate. Well, two actually. Firstly, what are your opinions of the new designs, and do you think the Daleks have outstayed their welcome and need to be rested for a few years? Of course on the other hand, do you think maybe we should see more of them? Let us know
