More Doctor Who Adventure Games In The Pipeline?

It has been revealed by the BBC that more episodes in the Doctor Who: The Adventure Games series are being considered for release.

BBC Interactive Editor Iain Tweedale said in an interview that the corporation may develop more titles if the success of the current four games keeps up momentum.

He said, "We're talking about it, yeah. Obviously we're seeing how this goes, but we're all very pleased with that,".

"It really does depend on how the others do, and what the commissioners think abut what we're going to achieve. It's really about things like bringing in the wider audience as well as the hardcore gaming audience, and we've done some research that suggests we are actually hitting those people, which is great."

Executive producer Charles Cecil added: "I think it would be great to see more. Obviously that's for the BBC to decide".

"We went for a very, very broad audience with the first episodes and as you know there's been 550,000 downloads, so it's going to go over a million probably within a month. So it's been hugely, hugely successful and I think it has really reached all the objectives that the BBC has set it.

"If we are going to do more, it probably would be a little more tougher in the adventure department. Not contrived, but just a little bit more challenging in that sense."

So far, only two of the games have been released. City of the Daleks and Blood of the Cybermen have both surpassed all expectations, and the final two installments which are due to be released soon are expected to be downloaded over a million times each. It has been revealed that unlike the first two games, the second two will feature brand new, original monsters and even more puzzles and mini adventures.

Have you been playing the adventure games? Would you like to see more released in the future? Let us know.

  1. The first two games were brilliant. I can't wait for the second 2 to come out. I read your review and agree, the game can sometimes lag and the controls are a bit iffy, but the graphics are great and the stories are fun. Besides, its all for free so who can complain?
