The Doctor In The TARDIS Awards 2012

The third annual Forum Awards are heading your way, so it's time to start voting again!

Once again, this years awards have grown and now cover 18 catagories. Just like in previous years, the catagories for Best Doctor, Best Companion and Best Story have been split into Classic and New to make voting as fair as possible because while everyone has seen the show since it returned in 2005, not everyone is as familiar with the classic series and it deserves to get equal representation.

This year the spinoffs will be given more of a look in with their own individual 'Best Story' catagories for Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures. The award for Best Villian is once again split to include Best Alien/Monster Species. This will mean that individual baddies will be recognised apart from their race, for example, Restac could be nominated seperately from The Silurians. The final new catagory is The Doctor Who Superstar Award. In a similar vein to a lifetime acheivement or contribution award, this award will be for a writer or director or actor etc, who you feel has played a huge role in the show and it's success.

As with last year, it is not compulsory to vote in every catagory. You can vote for as little as one or as many as all of them when you submit your nominations, but votes will only count once so think carefully about your choices.

To submit your nominations, copy and paste the catagories below along with your answers into a private message on the forum to either Myself or PopRockGeek to be counted. And if you aren't a member but would like to vote, you can put forward your nominations via email to: thedoctorinthetardis @ hotmail.co.uk or by messaging us via Twitter (@TardisSpoi
lers or @PopRockGeek) or by messaging us on our Facebook Page. There are so many ways to vote so make sure your voice is heard.

Here are this years catagories:

Join our forum today

I could tell you all the reasons why I think you should join the Doctor in the TARDIS forum, but first up I've decided that I'm going to let our members have their say. Why? Because they are the people who know the forum best. They are the people who will give you an honest opinion. And, if you listen to what they have to say, you could soon be getting to know them as well as I do.

Its a lot smaller that other forums that are out there, but it is still packed with all the latest updates as well as a brilliantly fun atmosphere with all the games and tournaments. Size means nothing because this is the best Doctor Who forum I have ever been to and I have been welcomed with open arms. If you aren't a member yet then you are honestly missing out, and if you are a member but you are lurking like I did, then step forward and join in. You won't regret it. (Twisted-Sister)

It's lovely to be able to share opinions with people who accept what you have to say, and it's just such a friendly place here. It's nice how it does feel like we're all part of the family. (hannahcole93)

What's even better is that this place isnt just limited to Doctor Who. Although that is the main body of the site, there are so many other great areas for the spin offs and the merchandise and even a section that we can all chat about stuff that has nothing to do with the show.
I found a great place here and I am an even bigger fan of the show now because I did.
(Tardis-Console)

I've had such a warm welcome and had lots of fun in the various sections. It's worth signing up and joining in for those reasons alone and I intend to stay for a long while yet. (TheDoctorDonna)

You can see more testimonials from some of our other members HERE

Ok, if they haven't convinced you then it's my turn.

Our main rule is that no one fan is more important than another - it doesn't matter if you've been watching since November 1963, or just discovered the show this year. Every opinion is valid and welcomed.

So, if you are a fan of Doctor Who, Torchwood, The Sarah Jane Adventures or even K-9, then give us a try. You'll find plenty of like minded people ready & willing to talk about pretty much anything to do with the Whoniverse & beyond.

Signing up to the forum is completely free and takes less than two minutes. Once you are a member you will receive perks around the forum as well as news and spoilers not reported on this news site. We run games, competitions, polls and quizzes on a daily basis, so there is always something to join in with and with the second half of Doctor Who Series 6 still to come & Torchwood Miracle Day (hopefully) just around the corner there is always something to talk about.

What are you waiting for, come & join us today.

No More Sarah Jane Adventures

Reports have been coming in over the last few days in various newspapers that the BBC intend to film the three stories from Series 5 that were not finished before the death of Elisabeth Sladen, and air them along with the three that were later this year, but earlier this week the BBC released a statement claiming that due to the stars passing, the show would no longer continue.

Contrary to press reports we can confirm that no new episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures will be filmed following the tragic death of actress Elisabeth Sladen in April, 2011. As a tribute to Elisabeth the six episodes that were recorded with her last year will be broadcast on CBBC at a date to be confirmed.

A Dedication To Lis Sladen On CBBC

A special 15 minute special will air at 6.45 on Saturday on the CBBC channel between BBC1's Doctor Who Launch and BBC3's Confidential.
Elisabeth Sladen created one of Doctor Who's best loved and most enduring characters, Sarah Jane Smith. For over 35 years she brought the feisty, compassionate journalist to life, creating a figure that was adored by audiences of all ages - truly a heroine whose appeal had no boundaries.

This 15 minute programme is both a tribute and a celebration of Elisabeth Sladen. It brings together stories from friends and colleagues and draws on a rich archive of material to remind us of Sarah Jane's journey, from companion to the Third Doctor to the central character in CBBC's award-winning The Sarah Jane Adventures.
The programme will be uploaded to the blog later that day for fans in other countries who are unable to view it on broadcast.

The Podcast Is Coming And We Need Your Help

The Doctor In The TARDIS is very excited to tell you that from this Sunday we will be launching our very own transatlantic Doctor Who podcast.

The Podcast will launch as part of our campaign to keep growing and bringing news from the Whoniverse to even more people around the world in various formats.

The Podcast panel is made up of moderators on the forum from both the UK and United States who will get together online to record each broadcast in an effort to bring a balanced and well rounded view on all the latest news, gossip, spoilers and headlines from Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures.

Our first podcast will focus on the 'Time' & 'Space' Comic Relief mini episodes as well as bringing in discussions and debates on a multitude of other subjects. The core team will alternate between podcasts in order to keep the dynamic fresh and appealing and also to provide different viewpoints for the topics under discussion.

As the series goes on we will be introducing other regular features such as bringing in guests to talk about specific subjects and topics of interest, as well as Q&A sessions where you the fans get to put your questions to the team for us to answer.

We really want you to get involved and help make the podcast a huge success, so what we want you to do is record yourselves asking the panel a question, it can be relating to any aspect of DW, and forward it to us for inclusion in the show. Doing this is easy, quick and totally free. To get your question recorded, you can either do it on your computer at home, or you can visit AUDIOBOO and do it there. Once you have recorded your question and are totally happy with it, send it to us via Twitter or on here and the best ones will be used for inclusion in the podcasts. It really is that simple.

We hope that you get involved, and we really hope that you tune in to each podcast and give us your thoughts and ideas. Each podcast will be posted via YouTube to this page and also to the forum and facebook page, so there will be plenty of ways to stay tuned.

Join Our Doctor Who Forum Today

As most of you know, way back before Christmas we extended the news site and opened up our Doctor Who forum as a way to let the fans discuss all the news and speculate on what's to come in the worlds of Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures.

The forum took off and became more popular than any of us expected and though we havent reached the dizzying heights of some of the bigger and more well known forums on the web, we have created a thriving and vibrant community for fans new and old alike.

The continued growth has seen our small moderating team of 5 extended to eleven, as well as three sub moderators, to help manage the amount of posts and threads that are created daily, and our 8 little topic sections have grown and expanded so much that we now have nearly 40 different areas burting with conversation.

Within the forum we have sections dedicated specifically to every Doctor Who spin off as well as several for the main show itself, a section for news and spoilers for the upcoming series', several merchandise sections to cater for all the games, books, dvds and nik-naks, a classic section, 3 roleplaying sections, character galleries, a fanfiction area and a new section due to be opened in the coming weeks for the realtime discussion of everything relating to series 6. If that wasn't enough, we also have an enormous, recently extended section dedicated to everything outside the world of DW where you can talk about anything from the last movie you watched to the most embarrassing thing thats ever happened to you.

The feedback we have had for the forum has been overwhelmingly positive and we have even started to get noticed and mentioned in other places around the web for our up to date news, welcoming atmosphere and friendly attitude to fandom. Many of our members have stated that they have been put off by forums in the past due to unfriendly members and/or bad moderation, but were convinced to give it another try because they felt so welcomed at The Doctor In The TARDIS.

Our main ethos is that no one fan is more important than another and that every opinion is valid and welcomed. One of the reasons we have been so successful is because everybody is given the opportunity to have their say free from judgement and ridicule and arguments and rudeness just doesnt play a part there.

None of what we have built so far would have been possible without our members. We have gone from strength to strength and grown tremendously, but without our members coming back to us every day and sharing their thoughts and views we would never have got off the ground. In order to keep growing and keep getting better though we want to bring even more people on board and into the fold.

If you are a fan of Doctor Who or its spin offs, or just like chatting with likeminded people then give us a try. Signing up to the forum is completely free and takes less than two minutes. Once you are a member you will recieve perks around the forum as well as news and spoilers not reported on the main news site. We run games, competetions, polls and quizzes on a daily basis, so there is always something to join in with and with the news series just around the corner there is always something to talk about.

If you are still undecided then come check us out by going to http://www.thedoctorinthetardis.freesmfhosting.com/ and seeing what we are all about. We have a huge help section on the forum where you can find answers to most questions, but if there is anything else you need to know, then leave a comment here and we will answer asap.

Year Of The Whoniverse

Before I went away for a while due to illness, I set up a poll asking which of the three returning Whoniverse shows you were most looking forward to. You all voted, and after a longer than normal wait, here is how you voted.

6% of the people who voted said that the show that they were most looking forward to returning in 2011 was the fifth series of The Sarah Jane Adventures. The series is returning in the Autumn and there is speculation that it may be the last.

46% of the people who voted said that they were most looking forward to the return of Doctor Who. The sixth series of the show since it's return in 2005 is due to air from April and sees the Doctor, Amy and Rory tackle pirates in the 17th century, visit area 51 and get trapped in a house of living dolls.

Surprisingly though to some, the show that wins the round, taking 48% of the votes and leading by a tiny margin is the fourth series of Torchwood. Under the umbrella title of Miracle Day, Torchwood returns in July with a nearly all new cast and American setting.

There is no better way to kick start 2011 and your Doctor Who obsession and if you still arent convinced then here are another 15 reasons why should get involved today.

And Now For Some Exciting Speculation...

Ok, so the last article brought to you all the latest news from the Whoniverse that has so far been confirmed, but there is a whole lot more that is so far just speculation, so with that in mind this is what we know. Kinda.

DOCTOR WHO
  • Amy becomes pregnant, leading her and Rory to leave the show. This could be potentially backed up by an email I recieved about 2 months ago from a girl claiming her baby twin brothers had been seen for the part of a baby. Perhaps the Doctor pays them one last visit after its born?
  • River will die in series 6 in an alternate timeline (and so ignoring the events of Silence In The Library)
  • The Cavaliers and Nazi's seen in the trailer are the passengers of a SIDRAT, last seen in the second Doctor story The War Games. If true, this could be what Gaiman was alluding to when he said we would see something in his script not seen since the above story.
  • There will be a lady wearing an eyepatch in the opening story. Some have speculated this may actually be Amy
  • CNN report that Series 6 will be aired simultaneously in the UK and USA
  • River Song's name is actually fake and her real name will be revealed in series 6
  • The Doctor will be cloned in the opening story
  • Amy Joins the MIB
  • DoctorWhoSpoilers, via Digital Spy, have hinted that Edgar Wright may direct for series 6
  • One of the episodes may have a medieval setting (probably speculated because of the castle filming)
  • Mondas Cybermen will make a return in an Egyption set episode
  • The TARDIS library and swimming pool will make a brief appearance before the Doctor jettisons them off into space in order to gain power for the TARDIS
  • The astronaut seen in the trailer for series 6 is part of the crew of Apollo 10.5
  • Finally, you can't have a serious article about speculation unless you include the following. River is:
    • The Rani
    • Donna
    • Amy
    • Romana 1
    • Romana 2
    • The Master
    • Anyone else who has ever appeared in the show

TORCHWOOD
  • Mekhi Phifer has been cast as Rex Matheson (At the moment unconfirmed)
  • Den Of Geek state that Bill Pullman has been cast as Oswald Jones (At the moment unconfirmed)
  • Tom Price has hinted that he will return as PC Andy in some American filmed scenes
  • Ausiello report that Jack will have a one night stand with a 20something guy called Brad
  • Episodes will air in the UK from the second week of July
  • Jack will get a new costume
THE SARAH JANE ADVENTURES
  • There will be a 'companion of the week' throughout series 5 (though this was also said of series 4 and so might be rubbish)
All of the above speculation, unless stated in the individual bullet points comes from members of the forum or messages sent to me via the news page. As always with speculation I advise you to take it all with a pinch of salt until confirmed or proven untrue.

Latest News Roundup From The Whoniverse

Its been a quiet few weeks on the news page and in that short time a lot of information regarding new episodes of Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures has come to light. It's a bit late to give them all individual articles, but for those who may have missed anything, here is a roundup of what we now know:

DOCTOR WHO
  • Some more interior of the TARDIS will be seen in series 6, though probably only in the form of hexagonal shaped corridors rather than actual rooms.
  • Early December saw filming taking place in castles in Cardiff, Caerphilly and Chepstow
  • Toby Whitehouse has been confirmed to be writing an episode
  • A leaked set report confirmed that the Silence are actually The Silent's, giving rise to speculation that they are actually a group or collective.
  • Castings for various episodes include Marshall Lancaster, Sarah Smart, Elizabeth Berrington, Ricky Fearon, Adrian Schiller, Mark Griffin, Jeff Marsh, Nancy Baldwin and Henrietta Clemmett
  • The trailer for series 6 was revealed and can be seen below:
  • As well as a specially filmed trailer for BBC America:

  • From the trailer we learned that:
    • The Doctor is held prisoner long enough to grow a substantial beard in what appears to be Area 51
    • Men In Black (possibly the same ones from Dreamland and The Sarah Jane Adventures) make an appearance.
    • Nazi's and 17th Century Cavalliers will appear (Check out the following speculation article for more on this)
    • The TARDIS from The Lodger will return
    • A green eyed Ood will be in one of the episodes
    • River and Amy both share the same tally markings on their body
    • The Doctor wears a Stetson now, and they are apparantly 'cool'
    • An astronaut is seen during a clip for episode two, possibly relating to Moffat's potential spoiler about Apollo 10.5
    • The closing clip of the trailer appears to be a blurry shot of a 'little green man' wearing a suit, with some speculating that it may be a 'Silent'
  • Peirs Wenger has stated that no old monsters will return, though this is contradicted by the sighting of the Ood in the trailer

TORCHWOOD
  • John Barrowman has confirmed that Starz are planning to make seven series of Torchwood, though this would obviously depend on its year by year success.
  • Previous casting news about Mekhi Phifer and Bill Pulman has apparantly been disregarded as rumour, though nothing official to confirm it either way has so far come to light.
  • Jane Espenson, who is writing three of the ten episodes has confirmed that she will also be producing her episodes.
  • Filming is to begin in Wales next week for 2 weeks before shifting to Los Angeles for 6 months
  • Jack returns to Earth because of his 'unspoken love for Gwen'
THE SARAH JANE ADVENTURES
  • Tommy Knight will return to full cast status for at least the opening story
  • Filming on the final 3 episodes of series 5 is due to start in the spring. The first 3 episodes of the series were filmed alongside series 4 and are complete.
  • The Parrot from 'Lost In Time' will return in series 5
So that is what we know so far. There is a whole load more information that at the moment is purely speculative and will be updated later today.
