The Doctor In The TARDIS Awards 2012

The third annual Forum Awards are heading your way, so it's time to start voting again!

Once again, this years awards have grown and now cover 18 catagories. Just like in previous years, the catagories for Best Doctor, Best Companion and Best Story have been split into Classic and New to make voting as fair as possible because while everyone has seen the show since it returned in 2005, not everyone is as familiar with the classic series and it deserves to get equal representation.

This year the spinoffs will be given more of a look in with their own individual 'Best Story' catagories for Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures. The award for Best Villian is once again split to include Best Alien/Monster Species. This will mean that individual baddies will be recognised apart from their race, for example, Restac could be nominated seperately from The Silurians. The final new catagory is The Doctor Who Superstar Award. In a similar vein to a lifetime acheivement or contribution award, this award will be for a writer or director or actor etc, who you feel has played a huge role in the show and it's success.

As with last year, it is not compulsory to vote in every catagory. You can vote for as little as one or as many as all of them when you submit your nominations, but votes will only count once so think carefully about your choices.

To submit your nominations, copy and paste the catagories below along with your answers into a private message on the forum to either Myself or PopRockGeek to be counted. And if you aren't a member but would like to vote, you can put forward your nominations via email to: thedoctorinthetardis @ hotmail.co.uk or by messaging us via Twitter (@TardisSpoi
lers or @PopRockGeek) or by messaging us on our Facebook Page. There are so many ways to vote so make sure your voice is heard.

Here are this years catagories:

Miracle Day Episode 1 Ratings UK Update

Last week TDITT brought you the news that the first episode of 'Miracle Day' had pulled in overnight ratings of 4.8 million.

Today BARB have revealed the final consolidated ratings for the episode (without iplayer). They are a massive 6.59 million, an increase of 1.79 million from the overnight figure. This brings it into line with the ratings for the first episode of 'Children of Earth.'

From these ratings it looks like fears that Torchwood's audience might dip due to people downloading the US broadcast may be unfounded, although it will be easier to judge that after the series has completed its run.

It also remains to be seen if there will be a knock on effect from the controversy surrounding the fact that the UK is getting a slightly different edit of Episode 3 to the US.

For the moment though, Torchwood appears to be doing well.

These figures are down slightly on the first episode of the season, though they are likely to grow once the official and timeshifted figures are announced early next week. We are also waiting on the AI figure too.

Officials for episode 1 are due on Monday.

Torchwood Sex Scene Scandal?

Fans of Torchwood: Miracle Day in the UK are upset after the BBC announced that it plans to cut parts of a sex scene from episode three of the show fearing an 'avalanche' of complaints from viewers.

The sex scene which features Captain Jack, played by John Barrowman, and a barman he meets in the show, will still be seen in the US version. Many fans are now questioning whether the BBC would have left the scene intact had it been between a man and a woman.

Torchwood: Miracle Day, although a spin off from a family show, has always had more adult themes and sex scenes and swearing have both featured heavily in the past, but the BBC suspect that complaints may arise over this scene, which Barrowman described as 'not gratuitous', despite it airing after the watershed.

What do you think of the removal of the scene? Are the BBC right to cut it or should the viewing audience be able to see the show exactly as it was intended in its late evening slot? Let us know below

Torchwood US Ratings Update

The premier of Episode 2 on Starz saw a drop in the ratings for Miracle Day, bringing in 609,000 viewers on Friday. For it's four airings over the weekend it brought in a total of 1.4m viewers, also down on the first episodes weekend total of 1.9m.

Episode 1, with repeats and 3 day DVR recordings taken into account has come in with a very respectable rating of 2.7m for Starz.

In the UK, the AI for episode one was revealed yesterday as 85, which is considered excellent. Official figures for episode 1 are not yet available, but overnights (reported fully HERE) came in at 4.8 million.

Miracle Day Episode 1 Ratings UK

Last nights premier of Torchwood: Miracle Day managed to bag BBC1 an overnight figure of 4.8m, with a peak early on in the episode of 5.2 million viewers.

The episode, which was first broadcast in the United States nearly a week earlier, has potentially suffered from many people deciding to download instead of waiting for broadcast. It took an audience share of 21.1%

These figures are down slightly on last year, though it must be remembered that these are just overnight figures and the actual consolidated number will be released in about 10 days.

It's been two years since Torchwood last graced UK television screen with the event that was 'Children of Earth.'

Tonight it finally returns with it's fourth series, Miracle Day. The first episode, 'The New World,' which airs tonight at 9pm on BBC1, has the following synopsis on the BBC Torchwood site:

When death itself comes to a halt, the whole world faces its greatest danger yet. CIA agent Rex Matheson has only one clue: the word 'Torchwood'.

So, are you excited that Torchwood is finally back on our screens?

Whatever your thoughts, why not come & share them in our special Miracle Day section on the forum after the episode has finished. We'd love to know what you thought.
