A Goodybag Of Classics

We know you are all massive Doctor Who fans and love to watch the show whenever you can, but we also know that many of you have never had the chance to watch any of the original series that ran from 1963 to 1989. For those of you who have had the chance, but just never did, YOU MUST BE CRAZY!

Bad costumes and wobbly sets aside, the classic series had some of the most amazing stories and characters that the show has ever seen, and though a fair number of episodes are missing from the archives, the stuff that remains is definately worth a look.

Blinkbox has teamed up with the BBC to bring you episodes and serials of the classic series that you can watch online, completely for free. Covering all Doctors and all eras, the site doesnt have every remaining episode available, but it has enough to get you hooked with stories involving, Cybermen, Daleks, Sensorites, The Master and Sontarans, to name just a few.

You can find your way to the site HERE, and we want to know which episodes/stories you watched and what your thoughts were. You can let us know below, or via Twitter

  1. Ah, the Sensorites with my favourite First Doctor quote:
Maitland : "Did you know, his hair was almost white?"
The Doctor : "Nothing wrong with that!"

I watched the story last year when it was first available on Blinkbox. Unfortunately after a few days any non-UK watchers were excluded.
That is a shame really because I am sure this would help the DVD sales. And since, like you wrote, hearing about the wobbly sets might put some people off, watching a few episodes certainly changes their mind. It certainly worked for me. (well, not my purse, but who cares about minor things like that)

In the last few months I have "converted" quite a few people to watch the new series. (yes, thru "other means" first, but many bought the DVDs afterwards)
All of them asked about the old series and if they would like it. A place like Blinkbox would be the ideal starting point especially since the quality is good, but no chance thanks to the so-called borderless internet.
